It was a big weekend for the No. 14 ranked Triton College wrestling team as the Trojans claimed three champions Nov. 9 at the Millikin Open in Decatur.

Leading the way for Triton was Ghee Rachal who took the crown at 197. The sophomore entered the meet ranked the top wrestler in the NJCAA's preseason poll in his weight class. Rachal showed why, coming off a runner-up finish to open the year at the Yellowjacket Open, he went a perfect 4-0 and defeated Treyten Steffan, a top-ten NCAA Division III wrestler from Cornell College (IA) by an 11-9 decision in the title bout.

Ryan Boersma picked up where he left off at the Yellowjacket Open with another strong showing at 285, winning all five of his matches. Boersma would pin highly rated Elijah Osit of Aurora University at the 1:20 mark to take home the championship.

Hayden DeMarco at 133 went 5-0 on the day for his second podium in consecutive weeks. The freshman from Chesterton, IN was victorious in a 12-9 decision against Evan Benitez of McKendree University to become champion.

Andre Giurini and Max Siegel finished third and seventh respectably at 133.

"Winning three weight classes out of the 10 was the most by any team there," said Triton head coach Tim Duggan. "Everyone got at least one win and a lot of our younger guys wrestled well and even in some of our losses, we competed hard. I was really happy with our effort."

The Trojans will travel to Des Moines, IA to participate in the Grand View Open this Saturday, Nov. 16.
