The Triton College wrestling team had three individual champions and qualified 9 of their 10 wrestlers competing to nationals at the NJCAA Great Lakes District Tournament February 23 at Harper College in Palatine.
Unfortunately, the Trojans bid for a third consecutive team title fell short with a runner-up finish. However, Triton will be well represented at the NJCAA Wrestling Championships March 7 and 8 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Tylahn Ladd from Joliet Junior College at the 2:46 mark of the title bout.
Hayden DeMarco won the district crown at 133. The freshman from Chesterton, Ind. Pinned Kaden Lapaugh from Southwestern Michigan at the 4:56 mark.
Mustafa Salimi who missed the opportunity to wrestle at the district tournament last season due to a season-ending injury was not denied in winning the title at 174. Salimi was victorious by technical fall over Trevor Streeter of Muskegon Community College by a score of 21-6.
Triton had six others qualify for nationals as
Mikey DiBenedetto (141),
Ashton Hayhurst (149) and returning NJCAA All-American
Ghee Rachal (197) each finished runner-up in their weight classes at the district tournament.
