The threepeat did not happen in New Orleans on Super Bowl Sunday for the Kansas City Chiefs. However, a day earlier, the Triton College wrestling team made their threepeat a reality. The Trojans, ranked No. 7 in the nation claimed their third consecutive Region 4 Duals Championship Feb. 8 at Morton College in Cicero.

"This year more than the last two was definitely a full team effort," said head coach Tim Duggan about wining another regional title. "We had to overcome an injury at 165 and mix things up a bit with our lineup. I really stressed to the team to give their best effort to win the duals and they did that."

Triton was impressive, winning all three duals, first defeating hosts Morton 54-3. Then the Trojans shutout Joliet Junior College 57-0 before taking the final team dual over long-time rivals Harper College by the score of 47-11.

Currently, Triton has four individual wrestlers ranked nationally in the most recent NJCAA poll: Hayden DeMarco (133) 8th, Mustafa Salimi (174) 3rd, Ghee Rachal (197) 2nd and Ryan Boersma (285) 3rd.

The regional title is the just the first step for the Trojans as they look for another threepeat in winning the Great Lakes District Tournament Sunday, Feb. 23 at Harper College in Palatine. The district tournament determines who qualifies for the NJCAA Wrestling Championship next month in Council Bluffs, IA.

"We would love to win the districts," Duggan said. "We're peaking at the right time and have the guys who can win at district as well as the national tournament."
