Playing inside the friendly confines of the Jordnt Athletic Complex gymnasium has paid dividends for the Triton College volleyball team. The Trojans have a winning record home record, where they have claimed five of their seven victories.
The latest pair of wins occurred Oct. 1 in three sets over Prairie State College and Oct. 3, a four-set triumph against South Suburban College.
Triton was in control of their 25-18, 25-21, 25-8 win versus the Pioneers. The Trojans were led by
Maya Lemanska's 11 assists and 16 digs.
Marissa Tamborino recorded a team-high seven digs.Â
Ashley Mendoza added nine assists and 12 digs.
Rosalie Shaughnessy finished with 15 digs and a pair of service aces.
Two nights later, Triton avenged one of their most difficult losses of the season to defeat South Suburban 27-25, 25-19, 17-25, 25-21. In the teams first meeting Sept. 24 in South Holland, the Bulldogs rallied from two sets down to stun the Trojans.
However, the rematch was a different story with Triton being able to put the match away in a much-needed win for the team as they fight for a spot in the Region 4 Division II tournament.
Paige Walker and Tamborino paced the Trojans offensive attack with 10 kills apiece. Lemanska had a team-high 16 assists and 19 digs. Shaughnessy added 18 digs. Mendoza finished with 15 assists and 15 digs.
Analis Reyes chipped in 10 digs for Triton.
