The Triton College volleyball team picked up their fifth win of the year in defeating Wright College in three sets (25-10, 25-14, 25-14) Sept. 12 in Chicago.
The meeting was the first in volleyball between the two schools separated by just five miles as Wright is in its second season competing in the sport.
The Trojans jumped all over the Rams in the first set as
Carole Akers reeled off seven points in a row on her serve to give Triton a commanding 11-2 lead. Then later in the set
Brianna Hernandez struck for three consecutive aces on serve to make it 16-3 in favor of Triton and the Trojans never looked back.
Triton was able to mix and match their lineup to get some of the non-starters playing time as Wright really did not challenge the Trojans the final two sets.
The Trojans now 5-3 overall are back home Monday, Sept. 15 to host Dayspring Bible College. Game time is 6:00 p.m. at the Jorndt Athletic Complex gymnasium.
