The Triton College wrestling team picked up right where they left to begin 2023 on a winning note. The
No. 6 NJCAA ranked Trojans dominated the field Jan. 7 at the Northwoods Duals at Itasca Community College in Grand Rapids, MN, winning all four team duals by hefty margins.
Triton won 36 of 40 matches wrestled defeating Northland Community and Technical College 58-0, Buena Vista University 51-0, University of Jamestown 48-4 and Ridgewater College 32-15.
"The team wrestled well for being back on the mat for the first time since hosting the Art Kraft Memorial Tournament (Dec. 10), said head coach
Tim Duggan. "We still have many things to improve on, but it was great way to gear up for the National Duals in Oklahoma this weekend."
The Trojans will enter the National Duals with
eight wresters individually ranked in the NJCAA out of the 10 weight classes. Â
Anthony Schickel who broke the school record for most technical falls during the duals at Itasca is ranked fourth at 125.
The remaining individual rankings are as follows:
Elon Rodriguez is fourth at 133,
Connor Svantner is fifth at 157,
Kendall Norfleet is fourth at 165,
Sherman Dixon is fifth at 174,
Jeivan Ross is 10
th at 184,
Curtis Ruff II is fourth at 197 and
Ronald Krewer is ninth at HWT.
