The Triton College men's basketball team cruised to their 13
th win in a row in a 97-56 win over Morton College March 6 at the Robert M. Collins Center Gymnasium.
The Trojans up their mark to 15-1 and remain No. 12 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll released March 8.
Triton defeated their Region IV neighbors to the southwest by a combined total of 77 points in the two meetings this season.
The Trojans were never threatened despite playing the game without NCAA Division I prospect
DJ Patrick who was a late scratch. Patrick scored 31 points in Triton's 89-53 victory at Morton when the teams first met on Feb. 2.
But the Trojans overall depth and talent was on full display to build a 41-24 halftime lead and outscored the Panthers 56-32 in the second half.
All 10 Triton players dressed scored led by
Teonta McKeithen (Ferndale, Mich.) with 19 points (8-13 FG) and eight rebounds.
"Teonta is a really talented kid and proud of the way he stuck with it," said head coach
Steve Christiansen. "He was a starter when we played in the fall and the start of this year didn't go as well for him. A lot of players would have let that affect them. But he did the complete opposite which is hard to do. He went back to work and allowed us to coach him. Teonta has bought in and happy to see that rewarded."
Guard
Morgan Taylor (Marist) added 18 points on eight-of 14 shooting from the field.
Diang Gatluak (Sioux Falls, SD) had 17 points and eight rebounds.
Raymond Grant (Perspectives) finished with 15 points and eight boards.
For the game, Triton dominated the glass, out-rebounding Morton 52-26.
