It wasn't easy at times for the Triton College men's basketball team March 10 against Bryant and Stratton College (WI) at the Collins Center.
The Trojans nearly lost an 18-point second half lead, but made enough plays down the stretch to hold off a stingy Bobcat squad 74-61.
With the win, No. 12 ranked Triton pushes their win streak to 14 straight games to improve to 16-1 with four games remaining in the regular season.
The Trojans enjoyed a 37-22 halftime lead and built the advantage to 45-27 with 15:30 to play. However, Bryant and Stratton (8-6) would crawl back in the contest.
Triton was up 54-43 midway through the second half. Then the Bobcats went on 9-2 run to cut the Trojan lead to 56-52 with 7:22 to go in the game and force coach
Steve Christiansen to call a timeout.
But Triton answered thanks to a couple of clutch shots by
Teonta McKeithen. The sophomore out of Ferndale, Mich. connected on back-to-back to three's after the timeout to give the Trojans some separation again at 62-52.
McKeithen paced Triton with 18 points on seven-of-10 shooting from the field.
Morgan Taylor (Marist) finished with 15 points and four assists.
Kejuan Clements (Simeon) had 12 points and five rebounds.
Juwon Carpenter (Nashville, TN) continued to be a rebounding machine with 15 boards.
