The Triton College women's soccer teams' late push was not enough as an early tally by visiting Kaskaskia College held up as the Trojans fell for the first time this season by a 1-0 result Sept. 5 at the Jorndt Athletic Complex Multi-Purpose Field.

Three days earlier at Lincoln Land, Triton gave up a quick goal and were able to score in the closing minutes to earn the draw. Unfortunately, history could not repeat itself as the Blue Angels (2-0) got on the board in the seventh minute, which ended up being the lone goal of the contest.

The Trojans had a couple of decent chances to level the match shortly after the Kaskaskia goal. However, their best opportunity came with five minutes left in the second half when Triton sent in a great cross that was headed just wide of the goal.

The conditions were also a factor as the game began under overcast conditions before the sun broke out of the cloud's midway through the first half to make a warm afternoon even hotter.

"It's tough to give up the first goal in games like this," said head coach Francisco Estrada. "The heat really took its toll, not being at full strength due to injuries. But Kaskaskia is a good team and playing them and Lincoln Land this week will help us get ready for some of the tougher regional games we have left on our schedule."

The Trojans will get back into Region 4 play as their final 11 games are against regional opponents beginning on Thursday (Sept. 10) against Illinois Valley Community College. Game time is 3 p.m. at the Jorndt Athletic Complex Multi-Purpose Field.

Update: Due to Illinois Valley not having enough healthy players, the game Sept. 10 has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.
