The Triton College volleyball team was victorious in their first true road game of the season, defeating Olive-Harvey College in four-sets, (25-12, 25-15, 19-25, 25-12) Sept. 10 in Chicago.

The Trojans have won four games in a row to improve to 5-2 on the season.

The main reason for the resounding victory was Triton's serving. The Trojans recorded 18 aces in the match, while the Panthers (1-7) just had eight. The team had only 4 serving errors to finish the contest with serving percentage of 96 compared to Olive-Harvey at 85 percent.

In addition, the Trojans played another clean ballgame with only 32 errors as a team, while the Panthers committed 59 miscues.

"Our team came out at the start playing with purpose and intensity," said assistant coach Norman Kwong. "We bounced back from a stunning third set loss to win big in the fourth set."

Key contributors for Triton were:

Skyler DeSomer (Cary) - six kills, .222 hitting with 17 assists, six aces and four digs.
Ana Gonzalez (Proviso West) - 10 kills, .208 hitting, 11 digs, an ace and a solo block.
Ulyana Sydorchuk (Leyden) - nine kills, 21 attempts, with only one hitting error.
April Salgado (Plano) - 18 digs, six perfect passes, two aces and 100 percent serving.

The Trojans are on the road in Palos Hills Saturday (Sept. 12) at the Moraine Valley Tri-Match to face the host Cyclones and Joliet Junior College.
