The Triton College volleyball team dropped their season opener in four, hard-fought sets to Oakton College (25-21, 21-25, 22-25, 17-25) Aug. 25 at the Jorndt Athletic Complex gymnasium.
Sophomore transfer
Ana Gonzalez (Proviso West) had a solid effort on both the offensive and defensive sides, leading the Trojans with seven kills and 19 digs. Another sophomore transfer,
Allison Bonin equaled Gonzalez with seven kills.
Setters
Skyler DeSomer (Cary) and Thea Tamondng (Niles) paced Triton with 15 and nine assists respectively. DeSomer would add 12 digs.Â
Sophomore
April Salgado recorded 17 digs for the Trojans.
"We competed hard throughout our match, showing several strong individual performances and a number of positive elements to build on moving forward," said Triton assistant coach
Norman Kwong. "Our team demonstrated the ability to create scoring opportunities through our serve, defense and attacking volume. We will be working to convert more of those opportunities into points."

Triton will be back in action on Thursday (Aug. 27) when they entertain Wright College at the Jorndt Athletic Complex gymnasium.
