The Triton College softball team had three players earn All-Region 4 Division II honors as voted on by the coaches. Sophomore infielder
Genciana Ortiz (Niles West) was selected to the first team. Freshman two-way player
Leah Lowery (Fenwick) was voted second team all-region. While sophomore outfielder
Mackenzie Bickhaus (Niles West) was named to the third team.
Ortiz in 30 games played, led the Trojans in both batting average (.442) and slugging percentage (.663). She finished the season with three home runs and 21 runs batted in.
Lowery, Triton's ace pitcher who also played in the outfield when not in circle, led the Trojans staff with a 13-5 overall record. In 108 innings pitched, Lowery registered 100 strikeouts. At the plate, she batted for a .327 average with four home runs and 33 runs batted in.Â
Bickhaus, in earning third-team honors, batted just shy of .300 with a .299 average in 31 games and led Triton with 20 stolen bases. She was not caught stealing at all during the season.
The Trojans finished the season with a 23-18 record.
