Triton College softball head coach
Ken Jurasz has brought back another former Trojan to join to his staff for the 2027 spring season.
Michala Belter, who was a two-time All-Region 4 selection as Triton's starting catching during the 2018 and 19 seasons will be returning back to where her collegiate career started as an Assistant Coach for the Trojans.
Belter, played under Jurasz who was an assistant coach during her freshman season that saw Triton finish 35-28 en route to a regional Final Four appearance. In her two seasons in a Trojans uniform, Belter started behind the plate in 95 games, hitting 27 home runs along with 119 runs batted in.
Following her graduation from Triton in 2019, Belter continued her playing career at the University of Wisconsin–Stout, competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC).
Despite a shortened season due to COVID-19, she started 20 games at UW–Stout. Belter earned her bachelor's degree in Special Education from the university and later completed her master's degree in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Belter began coaching high school softball for three seasons beginning in 2021. During this period, she joined the Illinois Hawks travel softball organization, where she continues to coach and develop athletes in addition to coaching at Triton.
"I am excited to have Michala back to help carry on the Triton tradition of excellence," Jurasz said. "She brings a wealth of knowledge in all phases of the game and understands what it means to be a Trojan softball student athlete. Her knowledge of game situations from her time as a player will ensure we are prepared for proper execution of our game strategy."
"Coming back to Triton is more than just returning to a familiar place," Belter said. "It's coming home and working with one of my role models. Coach Ken (Jurasz)Â helped shape me into the person I am today, and the opportunity to give back to a program that means so much to me is something I don't take for granted. I'm excited to bring my experience, passion, and love for the game to the staff and help build something special."
Outside of softball, Belter works in a transition program in Palatine for individuals aged from 18-22, where she supports students with special needs as they develop skills for greater independence.Â
