The Triton College women's soccer team hung tough with No. 11 ranked Rock Valley College Oct. 3 at the Jorndt Athletic Complex Multi-Purpose Field. The Trojans kept the game scoreless early into the second half. Unfortunately, the Golden Eagles skill took over the final 40 minutes and Triton had no answer in a 5-0 loss.
Â
The contest ended a challenging week for the Trojans (4-4-2) who hosted their second NJCAA ranked opponent within a four-day span.
Â
"I'm proud of the way the team played," said Triton head coach
Francisco Estrada. "We were right there for 50 minutes with one of the top teams in the country. The final score does not indicate how well we competed."
Â
Estrada felt his squad played Rock Valley (10-2-1) much better compared to the game vs. No. 17 South Suburban College three nights earlier. However, the Trojans could not get much going on the offensive end and once the Golden Eagles built a 2-0 advantage, Estrada decided to conserve his main group and substituted many of his reserves in to finish the match.
Â
Triton will travel to Joliet Junior College on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Game time is 4 p.m.
