It's a clean slate for both the Triton College men's and women's soccer teams as each squad qualified for spots in the NJCAA Region 4 Division II Tournaments that begins this week.
The Triton men will open postseason play early Wednesday evening (Oct. 29) at the Jorndt Athletic Complex Multi-Purpose Stadium. The Trojans drew the No. 7 seed in the 12-team tourney and will entertain the No. 10 seed Moraine Valley Community College in an opening round game that will start at 5:00 p.m.
The Trojans (11-4-3) finished the regular season on a winning note to secure homefield advantage in round one after their 5-0-win Oct. 25 in River Grove over Elgin Community College.
Triton and Moraine Valley (6-6-2) did not play one another in the regular season and the playoff game will be their first meeting since almost four years exactly to the date when the Trojans eliminated the Cyclones in a 2-1 overtime victory in 2021.
The Triton/Moraine Valley winner will travel to Galesburg on Saturday (Nov. 1) to take on the No. 2 seed Sandburg.
Meanwhile, the Triton women did what they had to do to sneak past Truman to earn the 12
th and final playoff spot in the regional tournament. The Trojans (4-11-2) played Elgin to a scoreless draw on Oct. 25 to clinch their first postseason berth in three years.
Triton's reward is a date at No. 5 seed Morton College in a 2:00 p.m. kickoff on Thursday (Oct. 30) in Cicero. The Panthers (12-5-2) will be playing the Trojans for the first time since 2021.
The Triton/Morton winner will play at No. 4 seeded College of DuPage on Sunday (Nov. 2).
