Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Complete effort gives Trojans key road win at Sauk Valley

A red-hot shooting performance from long-range fueled the Triton College men's basketball team to a key Region 4 Division I win Dec. 6 at Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, IL. The Trojans drilled 19 three's as a team to put together their best showing of the season in a 96-68 victory.

Triton, ranked No. 19 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll improved their overall mark to 8-3.

Devon Barnes paced the Trojans attack with 28 points on eight three-point field goals. The freshman guard added six assists.

Western Michigan University signee Brandon Muntu poured in seven triples to account for his 21 points.

DePaul University signee Keyondre Young recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Kimahri Wilson was the table setter of the Triton offense with 12 assists. The Trojans had 28 total assists in the game.

"I was really proud of our guy's effort against a good and well coached Sauk Valley team," said Triton head coach John Clancy.  "Sauk had beaten a ranked Southeastern Iowa squad last week and took No. 1 Indian Hills to the wire last Friday night."

"This was our most complete 40 minutes we have played this year on both sides of the ball. We had 28 assists on 31 made baskets and we shot it extremely well," Clancy added. "Our player movement and ball movement were tremendous and defensively we had some stretches of great ball pressure and guys flying around."

Things do not get any easier for the Trojans as they will host Kankakee Community College Thursday night at 7 p.m. in a rematch of last year's Region 4 Championship followed by a road contest Saturday at Southeastern Iowa Community College.

The Kankakee game will stream live on the Triton College YouTube Channel.
