The Triton College men's soccer team has overcome plenty of adversity all season. The Trojans have played most of the campaign with no subs but found a way to earn a home playoff game against Waubonsee Community College May 15 in River Grove.
Triton appeared to be 11 minutes away from seeing their season come to an end. But the Trojans persevered once again and scored two late tallies in a four-minute span to rally past the Chiefs 3-2 in a NJCAA Region 4 Division II quarterfinal.
The No. 4 seeded Trojans will travel Tuesday to take on top-seeded Prairie State College in the semifinals.
Waubonsee (5-3) grabbed a 2-1 lead the 79
th minute on a goal by Edgar Esquivel.
Triton (5-2-1) would answer four minutes later when
Dominik Jablonski (Maine West) scored into the open net off an assist from
Juan Sebastian (Soto).
The Trojans seized off the momentum as Jablonski set up
Konrad Madej (Fenton) who punched in the header from 10-yards out for the eventual game winner for Triton in the 86
th minute.
Madej assisted
Jared Urueta (Wheeling) on the Trojans first goal in the 32
nd minute. The Chiefs would tie the match up late in the first off on an unassisted goal by Andre Cerda.
Adam Sempoch (Buffalo Grove) in goal for Triton recorded four saves.
