The Triton College men's basketball team played its most complete game of the first half of the season in a dominate 86-63 win Dec. 4 at Marshalltown Community College. The Trojans effort snapped a five-game winning streak for the Tigers and helped give Triton a quality road Division I win to add to their resume.
Teonta McKeithen's 23 points paced the Trojans, including shooting five-of-nine from downtown.
Daylan Hamilton added 13 points and seven assists.
Patrick Suemnick added 11 points for the Trojans who at one point led by as many as 27 points in the second half.
"I thought this was our best overall effort for 40 minutes we have had to this point in the season," said Triton head coach
John Clancy. "
Teonta McKeithen was outstanding for us and
Daylan Hamilton did a great job at the point guard spot for us."
As a team, the Trojans had 26 total assists.
"We shared the ball while also taking care of it for most the game against a really sound defensive team in Marshalltown," Clancy said. "Defensively, we were locked in and our pressure on ball and in the passing lanes really energized us. However, the key was the run we went on to start the second half. Starting second halves well has plagued us this year so to start on a 15-0 run and extend the lead was a sign of great growth and progress for our squad." Â
