The crowd in attendance at the Collins Center for the annual "Pack the Place" night saw quite a show from the Triton College men's basketball team Feb. 12 vs. Madison College.
The Trojans shot a single-game school record 71 percent from the field (46-65) in a 123-60 dismantling of the WolfPack to improve to 23-5 overall and 10-1 in the North Central Community College Conference (N4C). The win was Triton's 21st consecutive over Madison (12-14, 5-8, N4C) in the likely final meeting in the immediate future between the schools with the Trojans going to independent status next season.
Triton remains one game behind first-place Milwaukee Tech in the N4C with two conference games remaining including hosting the Stormers Feb. 20 in River grove.
The Trojans took any drama out of the contest early in jumping out to a 19-3 lead. At one point, Triton scored 22 straight points in the first half to build a commanding 58-19 advantage at halftime. In the second half, Triton enjoyed as big as a 70-point margin at 112-42 with 5:30 to play in regulation.
Six Trojans were in double-figures paced by
Austin Richie with 22 points on nine-of-11 shooting from the field.
Carlos Curtis tallied 21 points of eight-of-11 shooting along with five assists.
Trey Boston finished with 17 points and five rebounds. Sophomore center
Jalen Shaw added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Proviso East graduate
Quinlan Bennett and
Piotr Gago both scored 11 points.
Triton's balance was one display in the scoring all 11 players dressed scored as the Trojans had a whopping 27 assists to just five for Madison.
