The deep shooting background at College of
DuPage's Physical Education Center is known for giving visiting teams fits for years. So of all the places for the Triton College men's basketball team to break the school record for most three-pointers made in a single game, doing so at COD's
cavernous gym is the least expected.
The Trojans put on a shooting clinic, connecting on 20 three-point field goals while only missing just nine in crushing the Chaparrals 111-50 in the teams North Central Community College Conference (N4C) opener Jan. 2 in Glen Ellyn. Triton's 20 three-point buckets broke the previous mark of 18 done by the NJCAA Division II National Championship squad
during the 2017-18 season vs. McHenry.
Triton (12-4, 1-0, N4C) broke the game open with a fury of outside shots to build a 51-27 lead at halftime and continued to pour it on COD in the second half, outscoring the Chaparrals (2-13, 0-1, N4C) 60-23.
Six different Trojans connected from long-range, led by
James Jordan (Detroit, MI) who was a perfect seven-for-seven to account for all 21 of his points.
Carlos Curtis (Milwaukee, WI) led all scorers with 25 points and 11 rebounds, including shooting three-of four from downtown.
Austin Richie (Bloom) got in on the fun with five three's and finished with 17 points.
David Swedura (Prospect) knocked down three triples and scored 11 points.
Piotr Gago (Taft) off the bench was also in double-figures with 10 points.
Triton ended up shooting for the game 43-of-68 from the field (63 percent) along with having 33 assists as a team.
