The challenge for Triton College men's basketball head coach
Steve Christiansen has been to keep his team up for the several North Central Community College Conference (N4C) games they are expected win by large margins. But in the process of winning, Christiansen has also looked to getting his bench players time on the floor.
So when the Trojans visited N4C opponent Madison College Jan. 18, Triton jumped out to a 44-18 first half lead, eventually enjoying a commanding 56-32 halftime advantage. With the huge cushion, Christiansen rested many of his starters in a comfortable 94-79 win.
The Trojans are
ranked No. 22 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll released Jan. 21Â and improves their mark to 16-4 overall, 5-0 in the N4C.
Not a single Triton starter played more than 25 minutes as
James Jordan led the Trojans in scoring off the bench with 20 points. The Triton bench outscored Madison (9-10, 2-4, N4C) 31-12.
David Swedura finished with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field.
Austin Richie scored 15 points. Proviso East graduate and Lamar University commit
Quinlan Bennett added 14 points and eight rebounds.
For the game, the Trojans were 31-of-66 from the field (47%), including making 15 three-pointers.
