Christopher Modzejewski was one of the top scorers all season among NJCAA Division III programs. He was a huge reason why the Triton College men's soccer team won both the N4C conference and Region IV championships. So there was little surprise based on his stats that Modzejewski was named
NJCAA Division III First Team All-American on Dec. 6.
Modzejewski becomes the
251st NJCAA All-American in Triton athletic history.
The sophomore from St. Patrick finished the 2019 campaign ranked seventh nationally in total points (79), tied for sixth in goals scored (22) and fifth in assists (15).
However, the achievement was a surprise to Modzejewski. "I was definitely happy when I heard the news, but was also surprised," he said. "There are a number of great players not only in our conference but nationwide and feel fortunate to be recognized as one of the best junior college players in the country."
For head coach
Piotr Sliwa and the Triton men's soccer program, Modzejewski is the 24
th NJCAA All-American in team history. In addition, the selection marks the 12
th consecutive season that the men's soccer team has earned an NJCAA All-American.
"It's been a pleasure coaching Chris for the last two season," Sliwa said. "He's a great soccer talent and even better person. He has worked extremely hard since the moment he started playing for our program and I know he will be even better when he transfers out."
Modzejewski is majoring in Computer Science and has not yet decided on the school he will transfer to.
