The Triton College women's basketball got off to a slow start, playing from behind the entire game in falling to Robert Morris University-Chicago JV 86-61 to open the season Wednesday night in River Grove. The evening started festive as the program honored former Lady Trojan guard Alondra Chavarria, who is playing varsity for the Eagles for her outstanding Triton career. Chavarria scored 1,029 career points, 2nd in Triton College women's basketball history.
However, Chavarria's new teammates controlled the game and kept the opening night crowd silent. Robert Morris broke the contest open by ending the first half on a 14-2 run to go into intermission up 39-24.
Triton was led by freshman guards
Mariah Henry and
Jasmine Nelson who scored 20 points each. Freshman
Lizvett Herrera added 10 for the Lady Trojans.
