Men's Soccer Wins Regional Championship

Trojans Advance in Pk's

The Triton College men's soccer team won its first Region IV championship since 2013 in dramatic fashion Saturday at Triton's East Campus Athletic Complex. The Trojans jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Madison College shocked Triton with three unanswered goals the last 25 minutes to force overtime. After two scoreless extra sessions, the Trojans edged the WolfPack 5-4 in a thrilling penalty shootout.

The Trojans, ranked No. 5 in the latest NJCAA poll, remain unbeaten at 17-0 and will travel to St. Paul, Minnesota, Wednesday, to face Anoka-Ramsey Community College in the first leg of the NJCAA District C tournament. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at Concordia University, St. Paul. The winner will advance to the District C Final Saturday in Dallas, Texas, versus the No. 1 team in the nation, Richland College.

After the match, Triton head coach Piotr Sliwa was named Region IV Coach of the Year. Patryk Szatko (Taft) was selected as Region IV Most Valuable Player.
