The Triton men's soccer team had to wait two extra days to begin their quest for the Region IV title due to the severe thunderstorms in the area last Saturday. However, when the top-seeded Trojans took the field in Monday's Region IV Division III Quarterfinal vs. #8 seed Elgin Community College, Triton showed no signs of rust with a downpour goals in a 12-0 win at the Multi-Purpose Field.
The Trojans, ranked #5 in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association (
NJCAA) Division III poll released today, stayed perfect with a 15-0 record. Triton will host #4 seed Joliet Junior College in a Region IV semifinal Wednesday. Kick-off is 3:00 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Field.
The Wolves (8-6-1) blanked Rock Valley College 3-0 on Monday to advance. Joliet has given the Trojans the most trouble this season. Triton did sweep the season series with a 3-0 at home win Sept. 8 and a 2-1 victory in the most recent meeting Sept. 27 in Joliet.
The winner will move on to the Region IV championship game Saturday, Oct. 21 at Noon.
