Chuck Murphy

Chuck Murphy returns to Triton College for his sixth season as an assistant coach. Coach Murphy served as an assistant coach for the Triton men’s basketball team from 1988-90 under the late Clarence Griffin. During that period, the Trojans went 46-19.

Murphy for more than two decades coached at the grammar school level including stints at Resurrection School in Chicago, the grade school where NBA great Isaiah Thomas attended and St. Simeon Catholic School in Bellwood.

For many years, Murphy split duties between Triton and St. Joseph High School in Westchester. From 2004-19, Murphy worked as an assistant at St. Joe’s under the direction of Hall of Fame head coach Gene Pingatore, who passed away in June of 2019. The most two recent seasons, Murphy worked under head coach Bill Riley until the closing of St. Joseph in the summer of 2021.

Murphy has also worked as a basketball official at various levels for over 25 years in the Chicago area.
