Christina Christopher will transition as a volunteer assistant coach under Ken Jurasz after eight successful seasons as Head Softball Coach. Christopher began coaching under Head Coach Joe Caliendo in 2012 where she worked with the pitchers and hitters. She became head coach in 2016 and has transformed the Trojan Softball team into a nationally recognized organization. Â

Christopher played at Triton for two years (2010 and 2011). Her many accomplishments include: 2011 Triton Female Athlete of the Year, 2011 Softball Team Most Valuable Player, and 2011 N4C All-Conference. Christopher led the 2010 nation in hitting with her .507 batting average.
In her first year as head coach, Christopher guided the softball team to a 32-26 record. The team cracked into the national rankings at 17th en route to a third-place finish in the N4C conference. Following Triton’s postseason run to the Region IV semifinals, Christopher was named N4C Conference Coach of the Year.
 In her second year as head coach, Christopher led Triton to their first ever 40-win season and marked her name in the NJCAA rankings.Â

Christopher had her best season in 2021. The team broke Triton’s single season record with 53 wins and were the NJCAA DII Region IV champions, making Christopher NJCAA DII Region IV Coach of the Year. The team ranked nationally as high as 7th, with a NJCAA DII National Tournament appearance. This year’s team had two All-Americans in Katlyn Cherry (Second Team) and Alyssa Stramaglia (Third Team). There were also nine Academic All-Americans with a 3.60 or higher GPA and the final team GPA was 3.08. Â

In total, Christopher has coached two All-Americans (both repeat), 18 All-Region players, 12 All-Conference players, and 15 All-Tournament Team players. She has also helped over two dozen student-athletes continue their athletic careers at four-year schools and universities. Â
In addition to her coaching duties at Triton, Christopher devotes her time throughout the community. She she gives back to the youth daily in many ways including various leadership roles at the local park districts, personal athletic training, and providing private softball lessons to all age athletes, her most being high school and college students.Â
Christopher received her bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and a M.Ed in Health and Wellness from Northeastern Illinois University, including endorsements in Social Science and Driver’s Education. She is currently a Physical Education and Health teacher at her alma mater Taft High School in Chicago, IL and was inducted into the 2016 William Howard Taft Hall of Fame.  Â
