Michael Woodard begins his second season on the Triton College baseball coaching staff. Woodard was drafted by the Oakland A’s in the 4th round of the 1978 MLB Draft out of Proviso East High School. Over the course of his 13-year professional baseball career, he played in Major League Baseball for five seasons. His MLB career included stints with the San Francisco Giants (1985-1987), the Chicago White Sox (1988), and the New York Yankees (1989).

Following his playing career, Woodard transitioned into coaching, where he made a significant impact. He spent four years as an assistant coach at Elmhurst College before dedicating seven years as an assistant coach at Proviso East High School. Later, he served as the Head Coach at both Proviso East and Proviso West High Schools for a combined 20 years, shaping countless athletes along the way.
