Trojans fall to No. 16 Madison

The firepower of NJCAA No. 16 Madison College was too much for the Triton College volleyball team to overcome. The Trojans showed how much they've improved overall, but the Wolfpack was able to take the match in three sets, 18-25, 12-25, 16-25 Sept. 23 in Madison, WI.

Triton (8-5) is in the middle of its toughest stretch of the season and hung in tough, especially in the first and third sets before the WolfPack (9-4) took control.

"We showed resilience on the defensive side of the ball with 60 digs and a 91.7 percent serving rate, but Madison College's efficient and balanced attack proved to be the difference," said Trojans assistant coach Norman Kwong.

Ulyana Sydorchuk (Leyden) led the Triton offense with six kills while April Salgado (Plano) anchored the defense with 10 digs. Skyler DeSomer (Cary) had a team-high 11 assists for the Trojans.

Triton will be in Springfield Sept. 25 and 26 to play four games at Lincoln Land Community College tournament.
