It was another solid effort for the Triton College women's soccer team, who is off to a 3-0 start, their best since 2022 after a 4-0 blanking of Oakton College Aug. 29 in Des Plaines.
Â
The Trojans used several different rotations in the muggy conditions to wear down the Owls and take control of the match.
Â
Lizbeth Sanchez (Chicago Academy) got the scoring going for Triton in the fourth minute.
Alexa Herrera (Proviso West) made it a 2-0 contest with the first of her two goals on the day in the 27
th minute.
Â
Karen Perez (Schurz) struck in the 63
rd minute before Herrera slammed the door late with her fourth goal in three games played Triton.
Â
The Trojans outshot Oakton (0-3) in the match 17-5 and have now outscored their opponents 18-1 through the first three games of the season.
Â
"It was good to pick up another win against a regional opponent," said Triton head coach
Francisco Estrada. "We've been working and training hard and that has resulted to why we have started strong with a 3-0 start."
Â
Triton will play their next two games versus a pair of Region 24 squads. The Trojans will travel to Springfield for a date with Lincoln Land Community College on Wednesday (Sept. 2).
