After a slow start, trailing 19-18 through one quarter of their Region 4 Division I Quarterfinal March 2 in River Grove versus Daley College, the Triton College women's basketball team showed why the earned the top seed of the tournament.

The Trojans turned things into high-gear, outscoring the No. 8 seeded Bulldogs 81-33 the rest of the way to roll to a 99-52 win. Triton was fueled by 61 percent shooting from the field (37-of-61) and had five players in double-figures.

Jazzmine Smith led the way with a season-high 29 points on 11-of-13 shooting from the field.

Jayla Rankin broke both the Triton school and Region 4 Division I Tournament records with 16 assists. Rankin broke a school mark held for 19 years. She finished close to her average of nearly 20 per game by scoring 17 on the evening.
