The Triton College volleyball team surpassed last seasons win total, earning their 14
th win after defeating Moraine Valley Community College in four sets, 25-13, 25-17, 22-25, 25-18 Oct. 23 at Jorndt Athletic Complex Gymnasium.
The Trojans (14-12) swept the season series from the Cyclones (1-21) and if Triton is victorious in two of their final three games of the regular season, can secure their first winning campaign since 2022 regardless of what happens in the playoffs.
"We got back on the winning track by serving tough, minimizing errors, and playing solid defense," said Triton assistant coach
Norman Kwong. "We demonstrated the ability to win through ball control and defensive discipline even when our offense was not operating at peak efficiency."
Key Contributors for the Trojans included:
Ulyana Sydorchuk — Offensive leader
Sydorchuk led Triton with 13 kills on 35 attempts and a .200 hitting percentage. She accounted for approximately 32 percent of Triton's kills and 26 percent of its attack attempts. She was the primary offensive option and produced a solid efficiency level despite carrying the largest workload.
Trinity Delboccio — Most efficient primary attacker
Delboccio produced eight kills with only three attack errors on 20 swings. Her .250 hitting percentage was the highest among the Trojans attackers with at least 10 attempts. She also recorded a pair of block assists, making her an important contributor at the net.
Kaya Potburg — Serving difference-maker
Potburg recorded five aces, accounting for half of Triton's total. She also contributed four kills. Her five aces came with two service errors across 17 attempts, making her aggressive serving a valuable weapon.
April Salgado — Defensive leader
Salgado led the Trojans with 15 digs and handled a team-high 25 serve-receive attempts with a 2.04 rating and no recorded reception errors. Her consistency helped stabilize the back row and support Triton's transition offense.
Skyler DeSomer — Versatile offensive contributor
DeSomer finished with 18 assists, eight kills, 12 digs, and an ace. Her .200 hitting percentage on 25 attempts was an important contribution as her versatility has been a major factor in Triton's overall improvement this season.
