The Triton College men's soccer team could not had scripted a better start in their 3-1 win against regional rival Oakton College Sept. 2 at Jorndt Athletic Complex Multi-Purpose Stadium.
Triton remains unbeaten on the season with a 3-0-2 record.
Hugo Marquez scored a pair goals, each assisted by
Enzo Dagatti in the first four minutes of the match to give the Trojans a 2-0 lead.
Triton had numerous chances to put the game out of reach in the first half before the Owls cut the lead to 2-1 in the 62
nd minute.
The Trojans let a couple more chances slip away and had a potential insurance goal waived off by an offsides call with 12 minutes to go. However, Triton was finally able to give Oakton the knockout blow three minutes later on a
Mizael Arias tally from
Giovanni Alvarez.
"I'm happy we got the win as it was an important game in the region," said Triton head coach
Piotr Sliwa. "We started off great with the two quick goals, but we had so many chances after that to make this an easy game and gave (Oakton) an opportunity to stay close."
The Trojans will be on the road Friday, Sept. 5 when they travel to Michigan to face Grand Rapids Community College at 11:00 a.m. central time.
