The Triton College women's basketball team got out of the gate strong and used a team effort to cruise to an 83-43 win, Feb. 8 at Highland Community College in Freeport.
The Trojans, now 19-4 earned the season sweep over the Cougars, who they soundly defeated 90-31 Nov. 12 in River Grove in the first meeting.
The rematch, Triton got sophomore center
Jordyn Coleman going, scoring the first four points en route to a monster performance with 29 points, 13 rebounds and six blocked shots. Highland had no answers for Coleman, who finished with 13-of-18 shooting from the field.
The inside presence of Coleman, opened things up for sophomore guard
Aliana Brown. The Kenosha, Wisc. Native had one of her best games of the season with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field with five assists.
Freshman
Jada Branch scored 12 points along with eight assists.
Mariah Phelps added nine points on three made baskets from long distance.
Tranika Randolph chipped in eight points and five rebounds.
The Trojans led 37-15 at halftime and 62-25 entering the fourth quarter. Triton had 27 assists on 32 made buckets. For the game, Triton shot just under 50 percent (32-of-65) from the field.
