Things got a little too close for comfort late, but the Triton College men's basketball team pushed their winning streak to 14 games in a row after a 94-86 win at Region 4 Division I rival Highland Community College Feb. 8 in Freeport.
The Trojans (19-3) swept the season series from the Cougars as Triton won the first meeting 90-60 Jan. 23 in River Grove.
The formula to Triton's recent success has been dominate second half performances. The game at Highland was no different as the Trojans put up a whopping 52 points on the board. Triton appeared to had break open a relatively close game with an 18-6 run to go up 87-69 with 2:30 remaining after a bucket by
Kaiden Space.
However, the Trojans held off a furious Cougars rally to pull within six points on a couple of occasions in the closing seconds.
Triton's top scorer
Dayjaun Anderson led the way with 25 points, including 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc.
Vijay Wallace finished with 19 points and six rebounds.

The Trojans win streak has also propelled them up the national rankings. Triton is now
ranked No. 6 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll released Feb. 10. The new poll sets up one of the best match-ups of the regular season as Triton will host No. 2 nationally ranked Indian Hills Community College (IA) on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Jordnt Athletic Complex gymnasium.
