It was a workman like effort by the Triton College men's basketball team in their 72-61 victory over Sauk Valley Community College Dec. 6 at the Jorndt Athletic Complex gymnasium in River Grove.
The Trojans (6-4) used an 18-7 run midway through the first half to take a 36-21 advantage with just under five minutes to go before halftime and were never seriously challenged the rest of the way.
Triton led 41-34 at the break. However, in the second half, the SkyHawks (5-5) could not put any pressure on the Trojans who maintained no worse than a six-point cushion the final 20 minutes.
Papa Kounta led the Trojans with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Terez Holmes had a solid game off the bench with 18 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.
Will Scott had 17 points and 4 assists.
Keashawn Jordan also registered a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds for Triton.
The Trojans are back home to face another Region 4 Division I opponent, Wright College on Tuesday (Dec. 9) for a 7 p.m. tip.
