The Triton College men's basketball team head into the Thanksgiving break with a mark of 5-3 after their 87-66 win over Harper College Nov. 20 at the Jorndt Athletic Complex gymnasium.
The Trojans took control of the contest with a 28-2 first half run to turn a 10-all tie into a 38-12 advantage capped by an
Ethan Johnson dunk with five minutes to go before halftime. The Hawks went over seven minutes without scoring as Triton took a comfortable 45-21 lead into the intermission.
Early in the second half, the Trojans built a 30-point margin before working in the bench who played the bulk of the final 10 minutes.
Matt Sullivan and
Terez Holmes led Triton in scoring with 20 points apiece. Sullivan shot 7-of-14 from the floor, including draining six threes. Meanwhile, Holmes shot 7-of-10 and was 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
Papa Kounta tallied 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting, along with six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Johnson finished with 13 points.
Miles Mitchell added six points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Trojans.
Triton returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 4 when they visit Region Division I rival, Malcolm X College. Game time is 7:00 p.m. in Chicago.
