The road magic for the Triton College men's soccer team ran out Nov. 8 in the Region 4 Division II Championship Game at Madison College in Wisconsin. After a quarterfinal win at No. 2 seed Sandburg followed by taking out No. 3 seed Prairie State on the road in penalty kicks in the semifinals, the Trojans could not get the offense going in a 2-0 loss to the top seeded WolfPack in the final.
Triton's season potentially ends at 13-5-4 as the Trojans will await the selection show Tuesday evening (Nov. 11) to see if they qualify in the national tournament as an at-large selection.
Madison (15-0-1) got on the board in the 37th minute on an own goal and then scored five minutes later to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Triton had very few opportunities as they were outshot in the contest by Madison 13-8. The WolfPack had 11 corner kick opportunities to the Trojans one.
The runner-up finish in the region was Triton's best since moving up to the NJCAA Division II level. The Trojans last regional title was in 2019 when they were competing in Division III.
