The Triton College Track and Field team will have four athletes in action at the NJCAA Division III Outdoor Championships May 9-11 in Utica, NY.

The Trojans will have Ava Connerty competing in the Women's 100-meter hurdles, Eli Amoh in the Men's 400-meter hurdles and the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Amoh, Anthony Beacham, Juan Cano and Diego Gomez.

Along with their qualifying events, they are going to try their hand in other events to qualify as white-card entries. Beacham in the 100-meter, Gomez and Cano in the 200-meter and Connerty in the 400-meter hurdles.

Connerty was Triton's final national qualifier, reaching her qualifying mark the final weekend of the regular season at the Elmhurst University Twilight Invitational on April 25.

The freshman from Riverside-Brookfield joined the team mid-season and earned her trip to New York with a time of 16.96 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles. Connerty is looking forward to nationals and has a chance to become an All-American as she will enter nationals as the No. 3 seed.

"I am super excited about going to nationals," Connerty said. "I've never participated at a meet this big before."

On the men's side, Amoh looks to finish his Trojans career on a positive note. The sophomore from Proviso West qualified for nationals in the 400-meter hurdles in mid-April at the Olivet-Nazarene Tiger Open. However, Amoh improved his mark with a time of 1:00.70 at Elmhurst and is seeded 15th. But Amoh is confident he can be in the running to place in the top 8 and vie for All-American status.

"I am excited and ready to compete with some of the best athletes in the NJCAA," said Amoh. "I have made a lot of progress this season and grateful to have a chance at being one of the top hurdlers in the nation."
