The Triton College women's basketball team advanced to the Region 4 Division I championship game for the fourth consecutive year with convincing 86-53 over Highland Community College in the regional semifinal's March 6 in Freeport.
The top seeded Trojans (23-7) will play the No. 3 seed Malcolm X College Saturday, March 9 for the Region 4 Division I title. That game will tip at 5 p.m. back at Highland.
The Hawks (15-10) knocked off Sauk Valley Community College, the No. 2 seed, 67-51 in their semifinal game.
Triton led against Highland from start to finish behind another big scoring game from the school's all-time leader,
Trinity Barnes. The sophomore had a game-high 29 points along seven rebounds and six assists.
Freshman center
Jordyn Coleman filled the stat sheet once again with 16 points, 19 rebounds and eight blocked shots.
Sasha Chambliss ran the floor well for the Trojans with 16 points, 10 assist and seven rebounds.
Sophomore
Jalyn Jimenez had eight points and nine rebounds.
Mariah Robinson gave the team good minutes off the bench with nine points.
