With the No. 1 seed locked up for the Region 4 Division I tournament and a second consecutive 20-win season achieved, the Triton College women's basketball team continues to push strong into the playoffs. The Trojans picked up their ninth win in a row in a 71-61 triumph over South Suburban College Feb. 16 in South Holland.
The win was the first claimed for the Triton program at South Suburban since 2004. The Trojans are 21-5 overall with two games remaining in the regular season.
After the Bulldogs (16-12) hit a three-pointer on their first possession, it was all Triton. The Trojans went on a 14-2 run capped by a
Linarys Burnett-Romero three to give Triton a 14-5 advantage with 4:10 to go in the opening quarter. The Trojans would not relinquish the lead from that point.
Triton would build the margin to as much as 17 points 90 seconds into the fourth quarter when
Trinity Barnes found
Queen Baker for a transition layup to make a 62-45 Trojan lead.
