Despite a 17-day layoff in between games, the Triton College women's soccer team showed no signs of rust in picking up a 3-0 shutout win Sept. 10 in Palos Hills over Moraine Valley Community College.
The victory helped the Trojans (2-0) rejoin the NJCAA Division II national rankings as Triton garnered
the No. 20 spot in the latest poll released Sept. 12.
With two games canceled due to those schools not having teams since the season opening win over Bryant and Stratton, Triton did not waste any time with a record-breaking start. Sophomore
America Calvario scored 35 second into the match off an assist from
Joanna Bahena to record the fastest goal scored in program history to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.
After the early fireworks from Calvario, it appeared the goal would stand-up as the game settled down.
However, Triton was able to punch in two late insurance tallies on goals
Adri Cornejo and Bahena the 85
th and 86
th minutes to put the game away.
Karen Salgado and
Micaela Sanchez assisted on the final two goals for the Trojans.
Triton will return home this Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. to entertain Black Hawk College. If you cannot attend the game in person, the contest will stream live on the
