The Triton College men's soccer team opened the 2022 season Aug. 24 with a dominate showing in a 10-0 win over Bryant and Stratton College (WI) in River Grove.
The Trojans entered the new campaign ranked No. 14 in the NJCAA Division II preseason poll and clearly looked the part putting the pressure on the Bobcats (0-2) early and often.
Triton jumped to a 4-0 halftime lead with goals from
Paul Urban (Fenton),
Pablo Mancha (Leyden),
Ronaldo Rojas (Grayslake North) and
Gustavo Monsanto (Brazil).
For the match, Rojas finished with a hat trick with three tallies. Monsanto scored a pair of goals. In addition,
Justin Ocampo (Proviso West),
Ricardo Orozco (Round Lake) and
Axel Leodegario each found the back of the net for the Trojans.
"We did not know what to expect as we did not have the opportunity to play any preseason games," said Triton assistant coach
Maciej Orlowski. "I was pleased with how we played. We started out sharp and were able to maintain that throughout the game."
The Trojans will make the short trip to Des Plaines to take on area rival Oakton College Saturday at Noon.
