There was very little drama Dec. 13 for the Triton College women's basketball team as they cruised to an 81-39 victory over the JV team of Rockford University at the Collins center Gymnasium.
Monraia Wilson scored consecutive breakaway baskets off Regents turnovers the first 30 seconds of the contest and the Trojans never looked back. Triton (10-3) would make it 15-2 four minutes into the game after a Wilson steal set up an open layup for
Queen Baker.
Triton would lead 35-12 after the first quarter and took a commanding 53-20 advantage into halftime.
Wilson led the Trojans attack with 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field. The sophomore guard added six steals, six rebounds and four assists.
Freshman
Trinity Barnes had another strong all-around outing with 17 points, five assists and four steals.
Linarys Burnett-Romero finished with 16 points on four three-point field goals. Baker was in double-figures with 10 points along with five rebounds, four assists and four steals.
Center
Zariyah Edwards blocked seven Rockford shots.
For the game, Triton had 21 steals as a team and recorded 23 assists off 30 made baskets.
