Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Trojans pass first road and regional test

A fast start was all the Triton College women's basketball team needed in their first road and Region 4 Division I test of the season Nov. 15 at Sauk Valley Community College.

The Trojans behind four quick three's from Queen Baker jumped out to a 15-0 lead and never looked back in an 83-57 win to improve to 3-1.

The game was also the first one of the young season that Triton had all 10 players in uniform after dealing with a number of injuries.

Monraia Wilson led the Trojans scoring with 17 points, along with six assists and four steals.

Freshman Trinity Barnes had a solid performance with 16 points and team-high seven steals.

Baker after the quick start ended up with 14 points. Guard Shamiyah Godfrey was also in double-figures with 11 points, six steals and four assists.

Triton for the game forced 41 Sauk Valley turnovers and as a team had 29 steals. The Trojans on the other hand only committed five turnovers.

"It was great to have the team back to full-strength and pass our first Region 4 Division I test of the season," said assistant coach Tim McKinney. "We were able to use this game to try some new things that we may want to do during the course of the season."
