Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Second Half Surge enough for Trojans to Storm past Milwaukee

Triton College and Milwaukee Area Technical are no longer conference rivals with all the Trojans athletic programs becoming independent this season. However, the men's basketball game Feb. 10 at the Collins Center was played with the similar intensity of past meetings between the programs over recent years.

The Stormers who are playing all their games on the road this season came out with plenty of energy early and took a 40-35 lead into halftime. But the Trojans turned things around with a huge second half, outscoring Milwaukee Tech 54-25 to pull away in an 89-65 win to improve to 7-1 on the season.

Triton was down 44-35 early in the second half as the Stormers did score the first four points after the intermission. Then the Trojans went on tear, scoring the next 16 straight points in nearly a two-minute span to go up for good at 51-44. Triton by the midway point of the second half would build a commanding 79-59 advantage.

Milwaukee Tech had no answers for Kejuan Clements who sparked the Trojan attack with 26 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.

DJ Patrick finished 12 points on four three-point field goals. Morgan Taylor had another solid performance with 12 points, six assists and five rebounds. Deangelo Elisee off the bench played quality minutes inside to finish with 11 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots.

"Milwaukee is a well-coached team and they were able to get some of our key players in foul trouble which disrupted our rhythm," said Triton head coach Steve Christiansen. "We could have been in much worse shape at halftime. Even though we gave up first couple of buckets out of halftime, I felt that opening four minute stretch went our way and our effort got better as the game went on."
