The Triton College women's basketball team opened the 2021-22 season with a 74-56 win at the College of DuPage Nov. 2 in Glen Ellyn.
The Trojans gave up a quick basket to the Chaparrals immediately after the opening tip to trail for the only time the entire evening. Then Triton reeled off the next nine points in a row thanks to the sharp shooting of
Linarys Burnett-Romero. The second year player out of Milwaukee drained three consecutive shots from long range to give the Trojans a 9-2 advantage they would not give up.
Burnett-Romero connected on seven three-point field goals to lead Triton with 21 points. She shot 7-of-12 from downtown for the game.
Freshman
Maya White Eagle had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists. Local products
Kendra Hatley (Proviso East) and
Asia Flowers (Proviso West) scored nine points apiece. Hatley added 10 rebounds.
