History is within reach for the Triton College women's soccer team. The Trojans are a win away from having the most wins in a season since the inception of the program in 2006.
Triton tied the school record with their sixth victory by virtue of their 4-1 home win over Elgin Community College Oct. 13.
The 2021 Trojans have equaled the win output of the 2014 and 2016 squads. In addition, Triton won their fourth consecutive game, which is the longest winning streak in team history as well.
The Trojans (6-2) are also two wins shy of securing the first winning season for the women's soccer program.
Freshman
America Calvario was involved in the scoring of Triton's first three goals. She assisted
Maura Wolf's opening game goal five minutes into the game before she added goals of her own in the 23
rd and 66
th minute to give the Trojans a 3-0 advantage.
Calvario leads the Trojans in scoring with nine goals and a total of 22 points.
Elgin (5-7-1) would get on the board with 10 minutes remaining. Then
Grace Larson scored from 30 yards out in the closing seconds, her sixth tally of the season. The sophomore from Riverside-Brookfield is second behind Calvario in total points with 21.
Wolf,
Joanna Bahena and
Giselle Molina each added assists for the Trojans.
Triton will have their first attempt to break the wins record this Saturday at Prairie State College.
