For the second consecutive season, the Triton College women's basketball team saw their season end at the hands of Bryant and Stratton College of Wisconsin. The Trojans could not slow down the lethal three-point attack of the top-seeded Bobcats in an 86-57 loss in a Region IV semifinal played Feb. 29 at Illinois Valley Community College.
Triton ends the season with an overall 22-10 record.
Bryant and Stratton (23-6) came out on fire hitting two quick three's to start the game as they never trailed. The Bobcats hit six of their 13 total three-point baskets in the first quarter to build a 30-15 after 10 minutes.
The Trojans played better in the second quarter. However, the Bobcats were able to maintain control of the contest as they took a 50-29 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, Triton fought back playing like the team many have seen all season. The Trojans went on a 25-12 run to pull within eight at 62-54 early in the fourth quarter after a
Zenobia Reeds (8 points) jumper in the lane.
Unfortunately, Triton expended so much energy in their comeback bid and the Bobcats wore the Trojans down in ending the game on a 24-3 run.
Sophomore
Jaelah Crosby led Triton with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Sophomore
Davion Watt finished with 11 points. Freshman center
Dajha Cooper had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Bethany Baldwin in her final game in a Trojans uniform had nine points and seven assists. The North Central Community College Conference (N4C) MVP concluded a remarkable season with 524 total points, the tenth highest single-season point total in program history.
