The Triton College men's soccer team picked up their third consecutive 2-0 win Sept. 11 in River Grove over Rock Valley College. The Trojans,
ranked No. 9 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll released Sept. 9 improved their mark this season to 6-1.
"Rock Valley was a good test for us," said Trojans head coach
Piotr Sliwa. "We played well the entire game and were in control from beginning to end. But most importantly, I was happier with the zero in the back of the net than our goals scored."
Goal keeper
Piotr Pyz (Conant) recorded the shutout with four saves and got some early offensive support as
Christopher Modzejewski (St. Patrick) got Triton's first goal in the 12
th minute.
"It was great pressure forced by our side to get the turnover," Modzejweski said. "When I got the ball, it was lobbed over the (Rock Valley) defense. It was bouncing and I struck it well and was able to connect on the left side."
Mateusz Makowiec (East Leyden) added an insurance goal for Triton in the 65
th minute off an assist from
Alex Forman (Highland Park).
For the match the Trojans out-shot Rock Valley 10-6 and had nine corner kicks to the Golden Eagles two.
